Chess notation
Algebraic chess notation is a standard method used to record and describe the moves in a game of chess. Each square on the chessboard is identified by a unique pairing of a letter and a number.The vertical files are labeled A through H.
The horizontal ranks are numbered from 1 to 8.
Each move is indicated by the piece's coordinates + the coordinate of the destination square.Moves include both the starting and ending squares separated by a hyphen
